365 Days of De-Cluttering: Day 135

Today I moved into the Den. I'm sure I'll spend a long time in here. 4 paper back books are being donated to the library. I'm sure there will be more.

365 Days of De-Cluttering: Day 134

The floor of the hall closet is where I keep my wrapping paper and bows. I spent some time this morning going through it since I haven't done that in a long, long time. I mostly reorganized it but did get rid of old wrinkled paper and squished bows that I know I will never use. I don't know if bows are recyclable so I will throw those away and recycle what I can.

365 Days of De-Cluttering: Day 133

I moved back to the hall closet today. I found two small stuffed toys to donate to the women's shelter.

365 Days of De-Cluttering: Day 131 & 132

I mailed the puzzle today so that is for day 132.

For day 131 I have a box of boys shoes to go through. I think most will end up in the trash but some may be good enough to donate.

365 Days of De-Cluttering: Day 130

I pulled two more bags from the attic today. Guess what, one had more draperies in it. Trash. The other had what I think were drapery liners as well as some clothes. I found 4 or 5 more shirts to use in the memory quilt and the rest is trash.

The person who bid on my puzzle finally paid but it is too late to mail it today so I will have to ship it on Monday. There is at least one more bag of something in the attic and a large box that I still need to go through.

365 Days of De-Cluttering: Day 129

This post should catch me up. I dragged two more bags of old clothes down from the attic. Some interesting finds. Some really old t-shirts, some of which I will save for a t-shirt quilt. I also found Larry's favorite blankie which I thought I had lost. A couple of old skirts, I can't believe that I was ever that small. Most was not even fit to be rags so will go in the trash after the trash man comes Tuesday.

I've spent the morning cutting up the old cotton shirts that I've been saving for the memory quilt. There are a couple more bags of old clothes in the attic that I need to go through and then I think I will start on the quilt.

365 Days of De-Cluttering: Day 128

Well the the person that bid on my puzzle hasn't paid yet so I don't know when I'll be able to send it out. So for yesterday's post I went through a bag of old clothes in the attic. They must have been old clothes I was saving for rags because most of these were in such bad shape that they won't even make good rags. I did find 3 of Lawrence's old dress shirts that I can get some fabric from for the memory quilt but the rest go in the trash.

365 Days of De-Cluttering: Day 127

Somehow I managed to run out of time yesterday to do any de-cluttering. So once again I'll do 2 posts today. For yesterday I pulled out two bags of draperies from the attic. That will do it for the draperies I think. There are still bags of stuff that I don't know what they are to go through. I'll do those on a different day. I have a small problem. The trash guy didn't come Tuesday. Well he did come but we had the driveway blocked getting our solar panels delivered so he couldn't get down to the trash. But since he didn't pick up, all my trash cans are full so I don't have anywhere to throw away anything else I pull out of the attic. Trash won't be picked up again until next Tuesday. I'll figure out something though.

I'll post today's post later. Someone finally bid on my puzzle that I have on ebay. The auction closes in a few hours. If they go ahead and pay then I'll ship it out today and that will be my post, otherwise I'll have to find something else.

365 Days of De-Cluttering: Day 126

Today I took some of my and my daughter's old riding gear to the consignment shop. Most of it I've mentioned in posts before so I can't take credit for all of it but there was a jacket that was not mentioned before. Unfortunately, they wouldn't take all of it. Some of the breeches had too many stains. There is one pair that I will work on to get the stains out but the other two go in the trash. There was a shirt that I might can get the stains off the collar and then they'll take it as well.

I threw away another trash bag full of draperies that have been hiding out in the attic for years.

365 Days of De-Cluttering: Day 123 & 124

I ran out of time yesterday so didn't do any de-cluttering. So this post will be for yesterday and today.
We are putting solar panels on the roof. This will involve running wires through the attic. There is a lot of junk in the attic which was semi organized at one time but isn't anymore. So to day I finally decided to get rid of a lot of the junk up there. For yesterday, I found a bag of girl shoes to donate. For today I am throwing away some old curtains. I also found a bag of fabric scraps that I need to go through to see what can be used.

365 Days of De-Cluttering: Day 122

I went though the bottom drawer today and found some more papers to recycle. I think tomorrow it will be time to move on to another room.

365 Days of De-Cluttering: Day 121

I went through the 2nd from the top drawer of my filing cabinet today. Got rid of a small stack of papers to go in the recycle bin. Found some copies of very old resumes that can go in the stack of paper I keep for notes.

365 Days of De-Cluttering: Day 120

Today marks the 4 month anniversary of De-cluttering. This week has been kind of hard to find stuff. I hope that doesn't bode ill for the 8 months I have left. But I did find some paper work from 2003 to put in the recycle bin. There are other papers that need to be gotten rid of but they need to be shredded and my shredder doesn't work so good anymore. The good news is that in going through all the stuff in the closet I did find a bunch of file folders from where I went through and got rid of a log of old paper work last year. I thought I had a bunch of file folders but couldn't remember what happened to them. I was just about to go out and buy more. Glad I didn't.

365 Days of De-Cluttering: Day 119

Today I consolidated my picture hanging stuff from 4 containers into 1 and threw away a box of old curtain rod hanging hardware. The curtains and curtain rods that they went with were disposed of years ago.

365 Days of De-Cluttering: Day 118

I'm still going through my office closet. Mostly today consisted of consolidating things and getting rid of packaging materials, recycling what could be recycled and throwing away the rest. I also found drapery hardware that I saved when I took down the old drapes in our bedroom and office. The metal drapery hooks I can save but the plastic pieces went in the trash. The middle shelf is much emptier now. I still need to organize and consolidate the top shelf which I will do tomorrow. The bottom shelf comes next. It has pictures and more school supplies on it. I'm not looking forward to going through all of that.

365 Days of De-Cluttering: Day 116

For today, I've found 6 stretchy book covers, 4 still in the packaging. I will donate these to the women's shelter. My understanding is that a lot of these women have children and they might be able to use them.

365 Days of De-Cluttering: Day 115

For today, I've chosen an old walkman. I think I will donate that to Goodwill. I've also chosen a toy flashlight to throw away.

365 Days of De-Cluttering: Day 117

And for today, more school supplies. This time 3 packages of No. 2 pencils that have never been opened. Another nice donation to the women's shelter.

365 Days of De-Cluttering: Day 114

Today I moved to the closet in my office. I have selected 3 old toy cameras to be disposed of. I can't imagine that anyone would want them nor will they ever be valuable so I will trash them.

365 Days of De-Cluttering: Day 113

I have finally decided what to do with the stack of old bed linens that have been sitting in my office for several years now. Understand that these are old, old sheets that I removed from the linen closet over two years ago to cover some plants because of a late freeze. I washed them afterwards and stacked them in my office. My plan was to cut them into strips to make rag rugs out of. But after cutting up one, I've not had the motivation to do any more. So I've realized that that won't happen now. But they are still useful as plant coverings in the event we have another late freeze. They will also be useful when moving furniture and stuff like that though I don't anticipate needing to do that anytime soon. So, I've put them in a large bag and moved them to the basement. So, while I haven't really gotten rid of anything, I've made a decision about where they need to be and put them there.

365 Days of De-Cluttering: Day 112

I finished going though the box today. I found one paper back book and another cookbook to give away to Goodwill. The rest are all horse and training related books, some are classics. I'll be keeping them.

365 Days of De-Cluttering: Day 111

I started on the 2nd box of stuff that I got from Aunt Roberta last year. I found a cookbook to donate to Goodwill and a bunch of papers that will go in the recycle bin. There's more in the box but I've run out of time.

365 Days of De-Cluttering: Day 110

Lawrence went though all the pool toys today getting ready for pool season (which has already started). We still had an old life vest that belonged to DD when she was a toddler. Needless to say it is no longer usable. In the trash it goes.

365 Days of De-Cluttering: Day 109

I missed yesterday. Just got busy and kept forgetting. So this post is for Saturday. I went through the first box of stuff I got from Aunt Roberta last year. Found some interesting things that I'll keep but also found some stuff to get rid of. There were about 10 recipe cards that I'll recycle and an old book on by pass surgery that I will donate to Goodwill.

365 Days of De-Cluttering: Day 108

Spent one more day on the shelves and decided to donate 3 books to Goodwill. They are books I bought from the library and now that I'm finished with them, I don't think they want them back. Since they are SF I'll donate them to GW instead of the women's shelter.

365 Days of De-Cluttering: Day 107

Today I was able to get rid of a bunch of things that we were storing for the GDCTA, a horse club I belong to. The club has rented a storage unit so that we can try and get everything in one place instead of strewn about town in various peoples houses.

Stayed really busy today so didn't get time to look for something so the last of the Domino manuals will go in the recycle bin today. But, now I have room on the shelves to put more books so tomorrow I will start on the 2 big boxes of books that I got from Aunt Roberta last year. I'm sure that there will be more to give away in them.
